Auto Electrician Dual Battery Sunshine Coast

Dual Battery 4WD Sunshine CoastIf you are a driver who loves to get off road in your 4WD vehicle, maybe with a caravan, you are very often going to find yourself in isolated spots where a breakdown could be an absolute nightmare. Sure, you might be able to get on your mobile and make a call for help, but what if you are in a location where there is absolutely no cell service? If you do plan on spending a lot of time out in the bush or on the beach in your vehicle, you really need to talk to your Sunshine Coast auto electrician about getting a dual battery system.

As the name suggests, your new set-up under the hood will see your vehicle running on two batteries instead of the single unit that we are all used to. What you are getting with this particular system is a set-up that is crucial if you plan on taking your vehicle into areas well outside the city. There are several situations that you can get into that can kill your battery, some of which we will look at shortly, plus that extra battery can come in really handy when you are camping. People who go camping regularly opt for a dual battery system. While one battery powers your vehicle, the other one can be used to operate all kinds of different camping gear, from your stove to a fridge, where you can store all the cold beer you like. Even when the system is running full tilt, you are still not going to have any issues starting up your vehicle when it comes time to leave. You just would not be able to do all of that when operating with the traditional single battery set-up.

The same rules apply when you take your vehicle off road. There are going to be situations where you get stuck in the mud or need a little boost to get over a big rock. This is when the winching system on your vehicle comes into play, and for those of you who have been forced into using that set-up, you know just how much of a drain it can be on a battery. It is not unusual to put the winch into play, only to find that your vehicle won’t start after you are done. This can essentially leave you in a worse position than you were in when you were stuck in the mud.

A dual battery set-up is a good idea, even if you never leave the city. Car batteries are not designed to last forever, and when they do eventually run their course, it’s nice to know that you have the peace of mind of a back-up. Your auto electrician can talk to you about what it takes to put a dual battery system in place, as well as how much it costs. It’s an investment that is certainly worth making if you spend any amount of time off road.
